๐Ÿ’– Hello!

i want to make this as brief as possible because iโ€™d rather be sewing ๐Ÿ˜œ

i saw something in the following article that reminded me of something i saw in a book and i think it will be useful to you (fellow artists and art curious people)

ok here we go

the following is from the NYT. i screen capped the article in full and added my marginalia.

shoutout to my friend Sue for reminding me of the word โ€œmarginaliaโ€ (hi Sue! ๐Ÿ’•)

moving on!

the book i read:

the image that connected what i read in NYT to what i read in the book:

my notes, actual book photos, edited for legibility, to the best of my abilities ๐Ÿ˜‹

the point

the art that was created by the Black Lips Performance Cult and witnessed and chronicled by the audience was created, in my opinion, for the following purpose:

TO COUNTERBALANCE THE INCREASINGLY DEATH-EMBRACING APATHY OF SOCIETY AT LARGE

now, i do not identify as a journalist or a scholar or a graduate student ๐Ÿ˜…

i identify as an interdisciplinary artist who is currently making clothing as a work of art

i will not take the time to make the connections for you but i believe that those who have the ability to read between the lines will be able to make the connection for themselves.

underground art isnโ€™t just because we feel like being freaky little freaks, freakin around doin freak shit

underground art is SURVIVAL

which brings me to this conclusion:

the image above is a story board i created to describe the purpose of the collection i designed and am in the process of bringing to life

i wanna add more notes and stuff but have not had time cus i been writing this shit, lol

it will take time before iโ€™m ready to share the results of that process but it is ongoing

i hope you found this useful

bye!

A.C.A.B.

ps: for many of u this sign off needs no explanation. to those of you wondering why, i will explain, in time ๐Ÿ’—
